Our “Favourite” Airline Is Bringing Starlink Onboard
It looks like Wizz Air is preparing to make its flights a little more connected — and perhaps a little less painful for anyone counting down the hours to Egypt. WizzAir and Starlink posted the news on their X accounts!

WizzAir has announced that Starlink onboard internet will be coming to WIZZ flights in 2027, with the rollout planned across its fleet. According to Reuters, Wizz Air will become the first European ultra-low-cost carrier to introduce Starlink connectivity onboard. Starlink itself has also shared the news, saying it will deliver fast, reliable connectivity onboard Wizz Air flights.
For those of us who know Wizz as the “favourite” airline that gets us directly to Egypt, this could be a genuinely welcome upgrade. Whether you are heading for sun, sea, pyramids, diving, family visits or just a much-needed escape, the idea of being able to stream, scroll and message at 35,000 feet makes the journey sound a little less budget and a little more bearable.
Even better, there are currently cheap Wizz Air flights from London Luton that work nicely for our three kite safaris this autumn. So, while the Starlink upgrade may not arrive until 2027, Wizz is already doing what we need it to do best: getting us from London to Egypt directly and affordably, ready for wind, water and a week of kiting.
Wizz Air announced the news with the suitably dramatic line: “RIP Airplane Mode.” And, for once, that might not be too much of an exaggeration. Starlink, operated by SpaceX, is already known for satellite internet in hard-to-reach places, and aviation has become one of its growing frontiers.
Of course, this is still Wizz Air, so the big question remains: will the Wi-Fi be included, or will it arrive with its own menu of add-ons, bundles and purple-branded surprises? The airline has not yet confirmed full pricing or passenger access details, so travellers will have to wait and see exactly how generous the offer will be.
Still, for a budget airline better known for low fares than luxury touches, Starlink onboard is a notable step up. By 2027, that direct flight to Egypt might come with something we never quite expected from Wizz: a decent internet connection.
